Basic Excel Training

As part of its ongoing Skills Transfer Program, LUSOTECHS is set to conduct a training session on Excel Basics for teachers at Kaseye Girls Secondary School in Chitipa. The initiative reflects the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening digital competencies among educators, equipping them with practical tools to enhance both teaching and administrative efficiency.

The upcoming training will focus on foundational Microsoft Excel skills, tailored specifically to meet the everyday needs of teachers. Participants will be introduced to core concepts such as data entry and organization, formatting spreadsheets, using basic formulas, and creating simple charts. The goal is to ensure that every attendee gains hands-on experience and confidence in using Excel for tasks like managing student records, analyzing performance data, and preparing reports.

What distinguishes this program is its practical orientation. Rather than focusing solely on theory, LUSOTECHS trainers will guide teachers through real-life scenarios relevant to their work environment. From compiling class results to tracking attendance and generating summaries, the sessions are designed to demonstrate how Excel can simplify routine responsibilities and improve accuracy.

The training also aims to bridge the digital skills gap that many educators face, particularly in areas where access to advanced ICT training is limited. By empowering teachers with these competencies, LUSOTECHS is indirectly enhancing the quality of education delivered to students, as teachers become more efficient and data-driven in their approach.

Staff at Kaseye Girls Secondary School have welcomed the initiative, recognizing its potential to modernize their workflow and reduce the manual burden of record-keeping. Teachers participating in the program are expected to not only apply the skills individually but also share knowledge with colleagues, creating a ripple effect throughout the institution.

Through initiatives like this, LUSOTECHS continues to demonstrate that meaningful technological advancement begins with capacity building. By investing in educators, the organization is helping lay a stronger foundation for digital literacy and innovation within schools across the region.
